What is this?
A public guide to Atlanta's startup ecosystem, built from research into how AI answers questions about it. Here's the short version.
In one paragraph
More and more people start with AI. A founder asks ChatGPT where to find a program; a student asks which campus to build on; a company asks Claude what Georgia offers if it moves here. So we asked four AI engines 2,290 questions people really ask about Atlanta, kept all 9,160 answers and every one of the 63,532 sources they cited, and studied who gets named, who gets recommended, and why. This site is what we found, a map of the ecosystem it describes, its events calendar, and a plan to make every Atlanta organization easier to find.
Why it matters
- People ask AI first. Founders, investors and job seekers use it to decide where to go and who to talk to.
- An answer is a short list. A handful of names, not ten pages of links. If you're not on it, you're not considered.
- AI repeats what it reads. The engines recommend what the web describes clearly. That part is up to us.
How we made it, in six steps
- Write the questions (2,290): Real questions from real people: founders, investors and engineers, students and researchers, recruiters, and companies choosing a city. None of them names an Atlanta organization.
- Ask the engines (4): Every question went to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, in September 2026.
- Keep every answer (9,160): Saved word for word, exactly as a person asking would have read it.
- Trace every source (63,532): Every page an answer cited, kept with its link, so you can see what the engines read.
- Read every answer twice (2): An exact scan for every name we track, then a careful read of who was picked and why.
- Turn it into moves (204): What each organization, and Atlanta as a whole, can do about it.
How to read the numbers
Three words do most of the work. Taking ATDC as the example, from the 760 answers about Atlanta's ecosystem:
Questions people ask
Who made this?
PursueATL publishes it. The research is by Resonate Labs, a company that studies how AI engines describe organizations. PursueATL is left out of every figure, and no organization paid to be included.
Why are publications here?
AI recommends from what it reads, and newsrooms write a good deal of what it reads. We looked for what AI can't find about Atlanta and offer those gaps to local publications as story ideas, with the data behind each. No publication was asked or paid to cover this, none is scored on being recommended, and we list publications only, never individual writers.
Is this a ranking of organizations?
No. Organizations do different jobs, so a program and a fund aren't competing. Where we put numbers side by side, they come from the 340 questions everyone faced equally. Each organization's own study is written from its own buyers' questions, so those are never compared with each other.
What is “AI visibility”?
How often, and how well, AI engines mention you when someone asks a question you could answer. An answer is a short list, so being on it, and being described accurately, is the new version of showing up in search.
Can AI answers really be changed?
The engines build many answers from pages they read on the web. Change what those pages say, or which pages mention you, and the answers can change. We plan to ask the same questions again the week of December 7, 2026 (date not final) to see what moved.
Why trust a machine reading the answers?
Names are found by an exact scan, not guessed. The second read, which codes who was picked and why, had to quote the answer for everything it returned, and those quotes are checked against the text. Every answer is here to read, so you can check any number yourself.
My organization is missing or described wrong.
Search for it above. Every organization we track has a page showing what the engines say and small moves to fix it. If you're not tracked yet, tell PursueATL.
Can I get a study like this for my organization?
Yes. The 13 organization studies behind this report are the same kind Resonate Labs runs for any organization.
